I have a professor that is looking for a way to automate the taking of attendance data, without manually entering it for each student (class is about 50) Thanks,
Len

    Hi @Len.D.3513!

Instructors can create an Attendance Registrar in D2L. They need to add their "sessions" (i.e., when the class meets), but Students are automatically populated. Here is D2L's overview on the tool:

    https://community.d2l.com/brightspace/kb/articles/3609-about-attendance

Once the Instructor has their Registrar set up, they go to a particular session and click on the Calendar & Pencil icon to take attendance:

From there, they click on the checkbox to the left of learner and click on Set Status and choose from either P (present) or A (absent) (optionally, the Instructor can just click on the checkboxes to the left of each Student that is present and then click on Set Status):

I know it is not exactly "automated", but aside from setting up the sessions, selecting the appropriate checkboxes, and clicking on Status, it is a lot faster than manually entering each Student into a spreadsheet.

    Hope this helps!
