Discussion Post grading

I want to provide a grade for the initial discussion post and a second grade for the reply. How can this be set up and linked to the gradebook?

Hi Sara,

You should be able to create a second grade for replies. Here is an article from Community that goes over the full discussion grading options, but essentially, you need to do the following:

1. In the same Edit Topic screen, scroll to Evaluation & Feedback.
2. Check Allow evaluation of individual posts.
3. Choose a Calculation Method:
   • Average post score (recommended for multiple replies).
   • Maximum post score or Sum of post scores.
4. Optionally, enable:
   • Include unevaluated posts in the topic score calculation as zero.
5. Click Save and Close.
