Hello,

How can the red dot in the "Unattempted Quizzes" icon be removed on the D2L Instructor Homepage? The course is over, and all grades have been entered. How can the icon be cleared out?

Thank you for your help.

    Hello User,

Thanks for reaching out to us via Community. The icon you are referring to appears until the student is enrolled in the course and has not attempted quizzes within it. Instructors, however, should not see this icon, as they are not required to complete any assessments. For instructors it will state 'x ungraded quizzes' instead. To resolve this, you can adjust the instructor's permissions by navigating to the "Roles and Permissions" section under Admin Tools. To my understanding, you can uncheck the "Can be Evaluated" option for the instructor role, which will prevent them from being associated with the quiz evaluation feature.

Note: you need to have an admin level role to change roles and permissions.

    Kind Regards,

    Mian

    Hello Mian,

Thank you for your reply! We tried deselecting the "can be evaluated" field (located under Competencies in Roles and Permissions), but that did not clear out the "2 Unattempted Quizzes" message. Is there anything else we can try?

    Thank you for your help!

    Hello User,

I'm sorry to hear that it did not fix your problem. Another permission linked to this is 'Take Quizzes (As Participant)'.

I tested this internally by reproducing the scene, and I can confirm it went away after disabling that. Please follow the steps below, and your problem should be solved!

    1. Admin Tools
    2. Roles and Permissions
    3. Find the 'Instructor Role'
    4. Edit Permissions
    5. Filter by Tool: Quizzes
    6. Uncheck all boxes for 'Take Quizzes (As Participant)'

Also, please confirm that the user is enrolled in the course as the correct role, 'Instructor' in this case. There are cases where users are enrolled as a certain role at the ORG level but a different role within some courses.

I am certain this should solve your problem!

    Kind Regards,

    Mian
