Hi Community

I wonder if I could pick your brains? - I am in need of a wee bit of help

I have set up a series of gradual release cases that the students work on in groups - this is fine, I have been doing this for ages!

I am now adding this approach into our final year module with clinical rotations
We have a series of groups set up - specifically 9 rotations, each with 4 groups that are all set up in Brightspace.
I need to re-set up all of these groups as 36 groups within the overall year group, then I can automate the collection of assessments for the whole year rather than needing to repeat it 9 times.
We are trying to feed a CSV file into Brightspace but are obviously doing something wrong - are you able to help?
I can send you the CSV file to check if that would be OK

I have uploaded a file with X'd numbers

to see if people can spot what we are doing wrong

Many thanks in advance!

Kind regards

Emma

    Hi @Emma.O.143
Forgive me because the Groups Tool is not my super power tool - but wanted to chime in with an option I thought might be handy.

I've learned so much from your question!

To import users from a csv file for your groups, you need to first create your groups- you may have done this already but it is critical because you need their group codes and these are only available once the group exists.

Once the groups have been created a new menu appears in your groups tool which will allow you to import users to your groups from a .csv file. Furkan noticed that your file wasn't formatted as a .csv

The .csv file has to include 5 columns that appear in a specific order, and they can't be labelled in your actual import

but not all of them have to be filled in.
As a minimum you have to fill in the action column (this is the first one) the Username column (this is the second one) and the Group Code (this is the last one)

I've made a sample template for you here.
If you run into any trouble I now feel like I've learned enough that I can be of help :)

    Hi Emma,
Thank you for your question. I would recommend you to create a support case to investigate it further along with the following information.
1: What fields you have configured groups import to use

2: What error you are getting?
3: If the excel file you are using is exactly as you are showing on that post then you need to make sure it is properly formatted as a CSV.

    I hope this will help.

    Thank you
