Microlearning

Has anyone found a good strategy for releasing microlearning modules?

I'm planning internal learning on Zoom and MS Office.

  • There will be an initial set of modules on set up, configuration, and security
  • I'd like to develop and release new modules once a month that focuses on a new tool or feature.

This way we are not overwhelming them with a long course, and we can keep up with changes to both platforms.

I'm thinking of adding a date and time restriction on new modules, with Announcements that tell learners a new module is available. Perhaps release conditions to bug them once if they haven't viewed it in a week.

Has anyone come up with a better solution?

That sounds like a solid strategy for rolling out microlearning modules! Breaking it down into focused monthly releases will definitely help prevent overwhelm and allow students to stay current with platform updates.

Incorporating badges as a form of recognition can also be considered within your strategy. It can provide learners with a tangible acknowledgement of their participation and completion of each module.

Adding short multiple-choice quizzes after each learning module is another excellent way to reinforce the key takeaways and gauge understanding. Linking the successful completion of these quizzes to the distribution of badges would create a nice incentive loop and encourage engagement. It provides a small "win" after each focused learning experience.

Intelligent Agents can also be utilized for reminders. These can be set up to automatically send personalized reminders to learners who haven't viewed a specific module within a designated timeframe (like a week). This offers a more automated and potentially less intrusive way to encourage engagement compared to relying solely on announcements and hoping learners see them. You can customize the agent's message and schedule to align with your communication strategy.
