Does anyone know of a way to put a blank Punnett square into a test question that students can type directly into?

    Hi, Peggy.
One possible way that would allow them to type into it directly would be to create a Written Response question, enable the "Add initial text" option, then paste a text-based representation of a Punnett into that so that when they get to the question they can type into the pre-populated answer box… although I doubt this would serve you that well since it would have to be manually graded.
Here's the example of a text representation of a Punnett I found when I googled—I just emptied some of the inner boxes:

    | B | b |
    ---+-----+-----
    B | . | . |
    ---+-----+-----
    b | . | . |
    ---+-----+-----

Hmm… it seems to strip out empty spaces when I paste. Here's a screenshot instead:

Ohhhh, thanks for telling me about the "Add Initial Text" option, Janet! I think I have it the way I want it to be now. I had always intended to grade their answers myself.
