Is it possible to allow instructors to unenroll without giving enrol permissions?

Our students are currently rostered in courses from our SIS using CSV Standard. When instructors merge their courses, SIS course registrations are added to the new parent course which is great. The problem is that when when students are withdrawn from the course in our SIS, there is no way to trigger an automatic unenrollment in the Parent course in Brightspace. This means students must be manually removed by an administrator with more permissions.

We would like to continue with only using our CSV Standard to enrol students in courses. Is it possible to somehow allow teachers to unenroll learners who have left their course, without granting them the permission to enroll new learners?

  • Hi @Tracy.W.238 ,

Thanks for reaching us through community!!

Are courses are merged using SIS Course merge tool ?

We might need to investigate more to answer you about un-enrollments in parent course. Will it be possible for you to raise a support case with course, users and SIS batch details ?

Your first step is to connect with your school or organization’s Help Desk to create a support request.

If you’re not sure how to do this, email us at questions@community.d2l.com with the name of your school or organization and we can provide the contact details.

If you are the ASC/ Admin for your Organization, please refer to our documentation for how to log a Support case or request, and a member of our Support team will be happy to assist you.

    Thanks,

    Sangeetha

    Hi Sangeetha,

Thank you for the response. Yes, teachers are using the SIS Course Merge tool to combine their courses. This changes the student's Brightspace enrollment so that it no longer matches what is in our SIS. This means that SIS withdrawals do not trigger unenrollments in Brightspace.

I was hoping there might be a way to give teachers an unenroll permission without giving them the permission to enroll students. If there isn't a way, I am an ASC/admin so I can submit a support ticket.
