Hi Joyce,
There a several strategies you can use to archive/remove/hide old and inactive courses in Brightspace. The following list is by no means exhaustive.
By default Brightspace courses are not deleted. If at some point the number of courses in your environment start taking up alot of storage space, you'll be contacted by an account manager or another D2L representative to discuss strategies for managing the courses.
These strategies may include:
Moving courses to an Archive space in the Org Structure. This can be as simple as creating a Department or similar under which you move all old and inactive courses. Add a Course end date to all archived courses using the Course Updater tool. See
&Archiving courses will involve creating an exportable course package. This includes content and activities only. No student information or student data forms part of a course Export. After creating a course archive, and required student data has been retrieved from the course offering, it may be deleted from Brightspace via the Org Unit Editor. See
The Data Purge tool enables you to create data sets which you can purge or store as archived files. A data set is a collection of individual information items you can group together because they all share a common attribute. For example, Assignments, Grades, Quizzes, Announcements, and Homepages all belong to an Org Unit. An Org Unit data set contains all of these components' data and files information. See
If in doubt don't delete anything and contact the D2L Support team to discuss your options.
Hope this helps!
