Hi Heidi,
Without the use of a rubric, the suggested level of achievement for an outcome will not automatically populate for an assignment based on the grade entered. However, this is a planned improvement, as this would be very beneficial to folks.
Please see this table for more information on outcomes assessment.
Best,
Andrea
I do not. All of our release information would be on our public roadmap.
@Heidi.E.312 Can you post the screenshot again?
For some reason it didn't show when I first posted it. I've attached it again. Let me know if you still can't see it.
Do you know of an approximate time table for this improvement?
OK, thank you! That answers my question!
Is there an update on when this feature will be available? To recap, we would like for the outcomes to be automatically marked as Met/Not Met based on their entered grade. In this case the grade of 100 should cause each outcome to be "Met."
Thanks for the follow-up.
Just to confirm, direct assessment of learning outcomes based on overall grades is still planned for a future release.
In the meantime, to automatically calculate learning outcomes, we recommend associating the outcomes with rubrics and then associating those rubrics with the relevant assessments. This approach allows the system to automatically capture the outcomes based on the overall grade achieved on the rubric.
Thank you Vivek!
Do you know an estimated time line for implementation (6 months?, 1 year?, 2 years?)?
Hi @Heidi.E.312 The best tools to predict release of planned features are the Product and Services Preview (Outcomes is not listed from now until June 2025) and the Product Roadmap (It does look like some Outcomes work is expected for release between May-July 2025 but the note does not reference Assignments.) Based on this, we have to assume this effort will occur later than July 2025.
Thank you, Stefanie!
What is the status on this feature?
Hi @Heidi.E.312 I've been reviewing out Product Roadmap and these are the features listed for Outcomes coming between now and the end of D2L's Fiscal Year (ending in January) Q3 (August-October) Quickly Align Quiz Questions to Learning Outcomes With AI
Save time when building quizzes. Lumi Outcomes uses AI to recommend outcome alignments, giving course creators a quicker way to ensure assessment quality.
Q4 (November-January)
Improved Navigation for Outcomes Across Brightspace
Outcomes are now grouped into sets across Brightspace, helping instructors and administrators quickly find the right outcomes when building courses or setting conditions. This makes the experience more intuitive and easier to manage.
See ASN Outcomes in the Achievement Dashboard
ASN-aligned outcomes added to an Outcome Set now appear in the Outcome Achievement Dashboard when aligned and assessed. This enhancement supports more complete, program-level reporting across your courses.
From the Product and Services Preview (PSP) - Brightspace I see one other scheduled Outcomes Release
Outcomes - Update Course Reset to Support a Proper Reset of Learning Outcomes
Planned Release | 20.25.10
Role / Audience: Administrator
Site Availability: On
Site Enablement Actions: None (Automatic)
This enhances the existing Course Reset functionality by extending its scope to include the deletion of Learning Outcome data. previously not supported.
Product and Services Preview (PSP) - Brightspace
So, the answer is "No, it is not on any future roadmap."
Do you have an estimated timeline of when they may implement this feature?
Hi @Heidi.E.312 I do not have an estimated timeline for implementation of this feature, other than the expectation that it is not planned for release between now and January 2026. The Roadmap, and Product and Services Preview are the best tools I have to estimate future release, and the feature is not listed there at this time. The available option to evaluate outcomes via an assignment today would be to align the outcomes to rubric criteria.
Thank you for the update!
