Outcomes Evaluation

We have an issue where our outcomes data does not automatically populate based on the entered grade. In the screenshot shown, you will see the student received 100%, but the met/not met outcome criteria is not automatically marked. Instructors have to go into the assignment evaluation tool and manually mark each scale for each attached outcome. This setup increases the time spent entering grades by about 6 times.

Is there a work around for this setup? Is there a way to get this setup to automate? (In the screenshot each outcome would automatically display "met" because of the 100% grade) Is there a better way to set up and evaluate outcomes?

We would love to streamline this process if we could!

    Hi Heidi,

Without the use of a rubric, the suggested level of achievement for an outcome will not automatically populate for an assignment based on the grade entered. However, this is a planned improvement, as this would be very beneficial to folks.

Please see this table for more information on outcomes assessment.

    Andrea

    Hi Heidi,

I do not. All of our release information would be on our public roadmap.

For some reason it didn't show when I first posted it. I've attached it again. Let me know if you still can't see it.

Do you know of an approximate time table for this improvement?

OK, thank you! That answers my question!

Is there an update on when this feature will be available? To recap, we would like for the outcomes to be automatically marked as Met/Not Met based on their entered grade. In this case the grade of 100 should cause each outcome to be "Met."

  • Hi Heidi,

    Thanks for the follow-up.

Just to confirm, direct assessment of learning outcomes based on overall grades is still planned for a future release.

In the meantime, to automatically calculate learning outcomes, we recommend associating the outcomes with rubrics and then associating those rubrics with the relevant assessments. This approach allows the system to automatically capture the outcomes based on the overall grade achieved on the rubric.

    Thank you Vivek!

Do you know an estimated time line for implementation (6 months?, 1 year?, 2 years?)?

    Hi @Heidi.E.312
The best tools to predict release of planned features are the Product and Services Preview (Outcomes is not listed from now until June 2025) and the Product Roadmap (It does look like some Outcomes work is expected for release between May-July 2025 but the note does not reference Assignments.)
Based on this, we have to assume this effort will occur later than July 2025.
