Copying Content Without Triggering Alerts & Notifications?

We have a training course we are updating and all instructors are currently enrolled. If I reset the course and copy in the new content (full course copy), will they all get new content alerts and notifications? If they do, is there a way to copy the content without triggering these alerts and notifications. Maybe marking the course inactive before copying? Just hoping to avoid causing any kind of unnecessary panic.

I found an article that has information that can help you: Notification sent when a new content topic is added and made visible to an active course that the user is enrolled in. So you can make the course inactive and add the content items.
