Hello Accessibility Interest Group!

We really appreciate your valued participation during the March AIG meeting. As promised, we took away from the meeting, the very interesting, questions raised. Please find below responses that the subject matter experts have come back with. We appreciate the continued patience and look forward to enhancing the D2L Community experience for everyone!

Question: Does the Brightspace Community host a page specific to accessibility resources?

Answer: We don't currently have a space for this available today, but we are working on it! Stay tuned for some big announcements and changes coming soon to our Accessibility space in Community! Thank you to those of you who participated in our recent survey.

Question: What are the accessibility resources that we have in our community today?

Answer: The Accessibility Lab is such a special resource because initially we've offered it through Fusion. It hosts lots of different activities to introduce some of the tools and techniques you can use inside of Brightspace to support a more equitable experience for all your learners.

We also offer quick, easy, and short courses, like our 3 Keys to More Accessible Written Communications, and Supporting Students with Low Vision.  These are great resources that I continue to pass along to just about everyone I meet with, or speak to.

Stay tuned for more resources coming your way!

Question: How can we request a specific resource on the Brightspace Community?

Answer: We have a lot of amazing resources that we currently host in the Brightspace Community, however, we are constantly looking for feedback.

If you have a suggestion for a Brightspace Learning Center resource, I would encourage you to go to our main learning center article in the Community. The article outlines all the courses that we offer for free today in the in the Learning Center. You can provide a quick note in the comments of the article suggesting this is something that I would love to see in the Learning Center. This is a great way for us to capture what resources you are looking for, allowing us to schedule work to bring those to you! Bonus: Have a resource you’d like to share with the Learning Center? We’d love to connect with you!

Question: When will we get updated Brightspace Video Tutorials?

Answer: As of the Announcement in our January Release Notes Video Tutorials and Video Course Packages are no longer updated. However, we have heard your feedback and are currently working on producing some video resources. In the meantime, we encourage our members to refer to Brightspace Guided Training, a free training resource offered through the Learning Center.

You can complete/access/ and re-access these materials on demand, and you can also access live Q&A sessions and other Training Webinars also hosted by our Training Team.

Question: How can I contribute to PIE? I want to get an update from PDMs about the status of PIE Items?

Answer: A very helpful resource that we would like to point you towards is the article on [Archived Content] Navigating Product Idea Exchange (PIE). There are multiple inputs when it comes to D2L making decisions about our product roadmap: PIE/Community, Design Studies, Advisory Boards, Direct Client and Prospect Interactions, and Market Research are just a few.

To learn how we determine what goes on with our roadmap and how your input helps us, I would like to recommend the article on Brightspace Roadmap And Ideas From PIE.
