Re: How to setup Non-Numeric Grade Schemes & Rubric Alignment?
@Heather.B.4264 Hi Heather, in addition to what Ana said, it is also possible to associate assignments with Selectbox grade items, so you could use a Pass/Fail scheme with that grade item and attach a rubric to the assignment.
Re: When importing a quiz from one course to another, do I also need to import the question bank?
HI @Ramanpreet.K.743, thank you for reaching out to the Brightspace Community!
You can copy course components between course offerings using Copy Components from another Org Unit. This feature lets you choose specific tools to copy, like Quizzes, or the entire Question Library. For this to work, make sure you have the necessary permissions and enrollment in course offerings.
Here's a documentation on how to import, export, or copy course components:

Re: Ability to export a title list of courses from a term
Thanks so much, this is exactly what I needed!
Re: Displaying a Text Grade to Students
Thank you, Jennifer!
This is what worked for me, also. I had to enable the Grade Scheme Symbol in the overall gradebook settings, and then tediously go back to every numerical item one at a time to override, override, override (twice per item, once for view settings and once for student view).
I hope that eventually this will be fixed or at least explained better so people are warned. I was flooded with students who couldn't see their grades, which was a frustrating waste of time for both them and me.
Re: Can I preview a quiz as student to confirm that it's available and working?
Hi @Ann.S.373
Thanks for reaching out with your question.
Impersonation allows a user with the appropriate permissions to temporarily access another user’s Brightspace account, such as a learner, so they can see the system exactly as that user does. This is commonly used for troubleshooting and support purposes, as it shows the same content, tools, and access that the learner would see when logged in.
To check if impersonation is enabled at your institution, you can do the following:
- Go to the Classlist in a course.
- Locate the learner you want to impersonate.
- Click the dropdown arrow next to the learner’s name.
If impersonation is enabled for your role, you’ll see an option such as Impersonate. Selecting it will log you in as that learner.
If you don’t see an impersonation option, it means the required permissions are not enabled for your role. In that case, I recommend reaching out to your administrator to review and update the impersonation permissions if needed.
You can also find more information about impersonation and permissions in the Brightspace documentation: https://community.d2l.com/brightspace/kb/articles/34437-about-impersonation
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification.
Regards,
Vivek
Re: Can I preview a quiz as student to confirm that it's available and working?
Hi @james.keuning@metrostate.edu, thank you for your question!
The 'Start' button won't show up when viewing as a learner. To take the quiz, you would have to impersonate a learner from the Classlist (if your school has that enabled).

Re: How are institutions highlighting assignments for students?
Thanks for the Question Heather!
Two of the most common ways to ensure students can easily find and stay on top of their assignments in Brightspace include Adding the Assignments Tab to the Course Navbar and using the Work To Do Widget:
1. Add Assignments to the Course Navbar
The most direct approach is to add an Assignments link to the course navigation bar so students can access it with one click from anywhere in the course. You can do this by editing the course navbar (via the three-dot menu at the end of the navbar, or through Admin Tools > Navigation & Themes > Navbar) and adding the Assignments tool link.
When a student clicks the Assignments link in the navbar, they are taken to the Assignments List page for that course.
Students can click on any assignment to view the full details, read the instructions, and submit their work directly from that page. It gives them a single, centralized place to manage all of their assignment submissions for the course.
2. Enable the Work To Do Widget
The Work To Do widget gives students a single, prioritized list of all upcoming and overdue learning activities including assignments, quizzes, discussions, surveys, and checklists across all of their courses.
This is one of the most impactful changes you can make for student visibility into upcoming work.
By combining both of these strategies, a navbar link for direct access and a clear view of all assignments, and the Work To Do widget for a consolidated view of upcoming deadlines, you can create a student experience where assignments are easy to find and hard to miss.

Re: Classlist Display Change
I think I found it actually under the User Privacy information which seemed to fix it. Thank you for your response!
