Brightspace Documentation now available in multiple languages!
Changing how the world learns isn't just a fun tagline at D2L. For a few months now, we've been helping our clients and users transition their processes from the Legacy Community and Brightspace Help to the New Brightspace Community. We're continuing to work on identifying content gaps and adding new features to make the New Brightspace Community an even better experience for everyone.
This month, we have a great milestone to share! Brightspace documentation is now available in additional languages to support clients worldwide. In addition to English (US), you can now access Documentation and Release Notes in French (Canadian), Spanish (Mexican), Dutch, Portuguese (Brazilian), and Arabic (Saudi Arabian).
With the availability of Brightspace Community in multiple languages, we continue to improve our user's experiences no matter where their classroom is located.
When you launch the New Brightspace Community, your currently-selected language appears on the minibar.
Figure: The Language setting currently set to English.
To change the Language setting:
- Click the current language and select a new language from the available list. Figure: From the list of languages, select your preference.
- Click the subcommunity from under your chosen language. Figure: The French subcommunity displays all available content in French.
We encourage you to explore the localized content, and use the search function to further refine your search terms. As always, we look forward to engaging with you to find ways to continuously improve our users' experiences.
Re: Non-user authentication for quiz APIs?
To confirm I understand the question:
- You would like to use the API to pull information about available quizzes.
- You don't specifically need to use LTI, it's just an option you thought of using, is this correct?
- You want to do this without any dependence on a user authenticating.
Please confirm the above.
I am not versed on all available authentication methods however I have an idea of how the above can be almost fully acconmplished (assuming my understanding is correct).
Using the D2L OAuth 2.0 app (see attached) you register an app with the Scope (quizzing:quizzes:read) you need. The first time you use this with the D2L auth server (auth.brightspace.com/oauth2/auth) it will ask for to login as a user. Yes this is not what you want but bear with me.
Assuming a manual successful authentication, you will get a token and refresh_token. The Refesh_token is the key. A refresh_token is valid for 30 days. You simply exchange it for a new token and refresh_token as often as you like. As long as you refresh it within 30 days, you will never need to login and do user authentication again.
Just ensure save your refresh_token every time, it is a one-time-use.

Re: weighted grade item not working as expected
@Ron.Good8792 This might be an issue with the display settings. If the number of decimal places to display is set to 0, then the weight will be rounded, and since the overall weight is actually 0.47 for this item (2.339181287 x 20), it will round down to 0 for the display.
Re: Is there a way to attach a rubric to a quiz/exam or better yet, a specific question in a quiz/exam?
@Mike.Gwin4423 No, unfortunately you cannot attach a rubric to a quiz or question in a quiz. It used to be possible to add a rubric that only the instructor could see, but that was removed 4 years ago. Check out D791 on the Product Idea Exchange. It's marked as Under Consideration.
Re: Release Notes Updates

Thank you for bearing with us as we worked on making these resources available.
Have a good day!
Re: How do I set up extra credit in grades?
Thank you so much! The first scenario worked perfectly.
D2L Product Roadmap
Welcome, Community members!
The D2L Product Roadmap will be updated approximately every six months. The six-month view aims to assist your longer-range planning, and you can use it together with the 90-day product and service preview (with more detail on roles and settings) and each month’s current release notes (with the most detail of all). For more on our roadmap process and our themes for this year, see the Product Focus page on our main website D2L.com.
Re: Can an organization have more than one Super Administrator?
Hi @Olivia.Tarasewicz5845 Yes! At our institution I have the role Super Admin and so does my colleague.
Re: Preventing intelligent agents from flagging instructors as violators in their own class
Hi @Aasim Yac947,
Your idea to check the "Role in class" settings helped.
Thank you, it solved the problem!
