Re: Importing a Quiz from another Course
Hi Sarah, I hadn't yet ported the quiz to the new course successfully. This is very helpful! I have to train myself to think of things as separate like Dimitry mentioned… Thanks :)
Re: Importing a Quiz from another Course
Hi there,
If the Quiz is under the Quizzes tool already, all you have to do to ‘add’ or link it into your content area is to select “Add Existing” in content, and then select the quiz from the list of all the quizzes that are in your course. It should then appear within that content module as a way for students to easily access it. At this time though, the quiz is in your course by the sounds of it!
Re: Quiz Blocking ALL Notifications
No, it is not possible within the instance to disable the no access to notifications when a Quiz attempt is in progress.
For your information, you can set the default setting of the checkbox under 'Edit Quiz > Properties > Optional Advanced Properties > Disable instant messages and alerts'. The Config Variable is
d2l.Tools.Quizzing.DisablePagerAccess
Re: How can a Prof share a Glossary apart from Nav Bar?
Try the following:
1. Create the glossary within the course as usual.
2. From within the course offering where you are editing the glossary - look at the URL and you likley find a string similar to “https://{your_domain}/d2l/lms/glossary/glossary.d2l?ou=XXX” where XXX is the org unit id for that course offering. Make a copy of this URL string.
3. From the course content, e.g., at the module page/html content, create a web link/insert quicklink (URL), and paste the string in step 2. Have the target open in New Window will likely give better outcome.
Hope that will provide a way to link to glossary without having it appear in the navbar.

Re: How can I add voiceover to a module?
Hi Elizabeth - in order to avoid the ‘dropped file type not supported’ message not appear, you need to insert the document through the Insert Stuff workflow (if you are making content that way) or, you can just drag and drop it directly into your content area as you normally view it, just right into a Unit.
There may be some functionality with an embedded Google Slide, but that is not something I am overly familiar with. So yes to your last paragraph, that is likely the best way.
Re: Course active/inactive permission
Hi @Cindy.Homer5050,
Thanks for reaching out to us here at the Brightspace Community.
To control learner access to your course, you must have the necessary permissions from your admin. Contact your admin to confirm that you have the permissions. To grant you permissions, your admin must navigate to Roles/Permissions > Manage Courses > Change Status.
Your Admin can also follow these steps in order to enable your permissions:
To allow an instructor to make a course active or inactive:
- From the Admin Tools menu, click Roles and Permissions.
- Click the instructor role.
- Under Filter by Tool, select Manage Course.
- Check or uncheck the Change Status permission.
- Click Save.
How to set a course Active/ Inactive
After you have the permissions, you can choose to control learner access to your course. To make a course active or inactive:
- On your Brightspace homepage, click on the course settings button (ellipses icon) in My Courses.
- Click Course Offering Information.
- From the Course Offering Information page, scroll down to the Active heading.
- In the Course is active checkbox, select the box to make the course active or inactive as desired.
- Click Save.
Re: How do I throw out a question in a quiz that is already graded?
@Julie.Sharma8684 Depends on if you want to delete the question (so it won't appear in future attempts) or just dismiss it and if you want to give everyone extra credit, full credit, or no credit. I have all the workarounds explained here.
