Re: Feature Request for Accommodations
Hello! I would suggest adding this to the Product Idea Exchange (3rd Party Tool). Note that you will need to be logged in separately to PIE in order to add ideas. Here is some more info about PIE:
Re: Can we turn a Discussion Forum into a Topic?
Hello @Jane.O.1385, thanks for your question!
You are correct, it is not possible to switch a created Forum over to a Topic.
Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Re: Release Condition based on Calculated Grade Item
The workaround I found is you create a learning objective based on the grade item (calculated grade item). You can't add the calculated grade item to release condition, but a learning objective can be met based on a calculated grade item. You then create the release condition based on the learning objective as having been met. The nice thing is the learning objective updates to met/not met based on changes to the calculated grade item.
This bothers me at so many levels that they can't make a calculated grade item a release condition, but you can do these workarounds to do the same thing. You do have to be careful about cases where there is no score for grades that are in the formula you use in the calculated grade item (I use a start date to help control for that to ensure "zeros" are entered in the gradebook before the release conditions would kick in or not when there is missing work by the student).
Re: Creating a Report for college-wide absentee students
@Dane.L.746 Hi Dane, you can get this data by joining the Course Access (logins via a browser), Course Access Log (logins via the Pulse app), Organizational Units (for course names), and Users (for student names) data sets.

Re: Fixed Issues List Updates
A new version of the fixed issues list has been published.
Case # 02280719 (Classlist - January feature for Classlist export has been disabled) was applied immediately, with no new build or hotfix deployment required.
Known Issue Description: In Brightspace, using Classlist, the export feature released in January has been disabled due to customer feedback indicating the need for role-based permission control over who can export Classlist data. This issue applies to (but may not be limited to) 20.26.01.
Fixed Issue Description: The Classlist export feature will be reintroduced in the March release with a new permission that allows institutions to control which roles can access export and print functionality.
Re: HTML pages open in default browser instead of Pulse app
Hello @Christina.T.727 ,
After reviewing this further, I can confirm that this behavior is expected and aligns with a product change that was introduced some time ago. In February 2023, Brightspace Pulse was updated so that web-based content (including HTML content topics, quizzes, checklists, and other web pages) now launches in the device’s default browser rather than within the Pulse app’s embedded browser.
The rationale behind this change was to:
- Improve reliability and compatibility with LTI integrations
- Allow learners to use full browser capabilities (for example, saved passwords, single sign-on flows, and opening links to other apps)
- Reduce limitations that existed within the in-app web view
There was a similar discussion in the Brightspace Community when the change was first introduced, which you may find helpful for additional context here.
Thanks and Regards,
Bharti
Re: Fixed Issues List Updates
Thanks for the Classlist export feature update.
In most cases, who should see a list of classmates is contextual to the pedagogy, not the institution, or a role. Giving instructors a visibility toggle for elements of the Classlist, like many other features in Brightspace, would continue the instructor's role in caring for this information.
The same roles can be in very large and very small courses, and in my experience, those scenarios do not share classlist visibility preferencs.
I had an old PIE to this effect, but it didn't progress.
Re: Release Notes Updates
The January 2026/20.26.01 Release Notes are now live and ready for review in all languages!
Unfortunately, the embedded Release Highlights video is not functioning as expected. In the meantime, you can access the video directly here.
Thank you for your patience as we resolve this issue!
Re: If you edit a question in the question library, should it automatically update wherever it's used?
Hello Professor Barrow, Thank you very much for your question. I came into the D2L Community space to address your same question. My team discovered that updates to the Question Library were not replicating to the quizzes. D2L was not asking for a confirmation that the update--specifically deletions in this case--be made to the Question Library and to a relevant quiz. After further trials, we discovered that the confirmation occurred if we were using Google Chrome browser but not with Firefox. Unfortunately, we discovered this after receiving results back for students who took quizzes where the bad questions were still showing up. We haven't tested other browsers yet.
I hope someone gets to the bottom of this issue soon.
