Re: Short answer question with a number range
Hi @Sue.S.4,
May I suggest trying the following regular expression in the answer field: ^(1[0-2]|[5-9])$ This may help ensure that only valid responses between 5 and 12 are accepted.
For context, here's how it works:
^and$are anchors that ensure the match applies to the entire string, from start to finish.1[0-2]matches the numbers 10, 11, and 12.[5-9]matches the numbers 5 through 9.
This expression will successfully match any number from 5 to 12, while excluding anything outside that range.
Thanks,
Rusha
Visibility settings
Is there a way to globally change the default for visibility to "Visible with Submission Restricted"? Our system defaults to "Visible with access restricted" which is painful to change on all assignments and discussions that's due dates vary from week to week. I may just be missing something simple, but would love any help I can get on this. Thank you!
Is there a limit to the # of tiles that can be displayed in the Visual Table of Contents widget?
I thought for sure I used to be able to display 16 tiles (one for each week, all on the same page) in the Visual Table of Contents widget. Now it seems to be limited to 12, unless you select "View All," and then they display in giant size with a squashed image. Am I just imagining this?
Re: Is there a limit to the # of tiles that can be displayed in the Visual Table of Contents widget?
Thanks for the information. I'm disappointed to hear about that change. I liked having the modules for the entire 15-week semester visible. I wonder what the thinking behind changing it to a limit of 12 was.
Re: How can I sort columns on the Enter Grades page?
Hello @Peggy.R.1517,
It does not appear that this is currently possible. What you are describing is a type of multi-level or hierarchical sorting, which Gradebook does not currently support.
I would recommend you post or upvote an existing idea that matches in the Product Ideas Exchange (PIE). You can reach the PIE from the QuickLinks widget in the Brightspace Community.
That said, something you could try that perhaps could help — specifically for the ungraded subset — would be to use the advanced search options to search by score. This allows you to filter your list of users to only those users who have received a score within a certain range (i.e. no score) for a specific grade item. From there, you could then sort your list by Last Name A-Z. I do recognize this won't fully address your needs as you want to see all grades and users, but if you break your workflow up into grading only those without a grade first, then at least you can see that particular subset by Last Name A - Z order.
I hope that helps!

Re: Widget and Banner Image
Hi @alaina.s.2924 ,
Thank you for reaching out in the Brightspace Community.
If you are referring to the Visual ToC Widget, it will default to use the banner image displayed by the Course for each of the modules. However, if you add an image to the module description in Content for any of them, that image will be displayed instead of the Course banner image.
You may find our helpful for the workflow you are trying to achieve.
Please keep us posted if this resource was helpful in completing your intended workflow.
Kind regards,
Tauany
Re: Unauthorized Error When Generating Access Token via Postman
D2L Oauth2 does not currently support the client credentials grant type you need to use the Authorization code type.
In postman use the authorize using browser and in Brightspace set the callback url to match the https://oauth.postmn.io/v1/callback
or if using the browser version of postman the value that appears in the field when the authorize using browser check box is enabled.
Re: Integration of Turnitin with assessable Discussion Topics
Hi @Sue.S.4 ,
Thanks for reaching out to us through the Community!
I reviewed the possibility of integrating Turnitin with the Discussions tool, but unfortunately, this is not currently supported.
There is already a Product Idea Exchange (PIE) request for this feature: https://desire2learn.brightidea.com/ideas/D10034
I encourage you to upvote the PIE item so our development team can gauge interest and prioritise accordingly.
Please let me know if you have any further questions or need assistance with anything else.
Thanks,

Re: Microlearning
Hi @Rafi.S.99
That sounds like a solid strategy for rolling out microlearning modules! Breaking it down into focused monthly releases will definitely help prevent overwhelm and allow students to stay current with platform updates.
Incorporating badges as a form of recognition can also be considered within your strategy. It can provide learners with a tangible acknowledgement of their participation and completion of each module.
Adding short multiple-choice quizzes after each learning module is another excellent way to reinforce the key takeaways and gauge understanding. Linking the successful completion of these quizzes to the distribution of badges would create a nice incentive loop and encourage engagement. It provides a small "win" after each focused learning experience.
Intelligent Agents can also be utilized for reminders. These can be set up to automatically send personalized reminders to learners who haven't viewed a specific module within a designated timeframe (like a week). This offers a more automated and potentially less intrusive way to encourage engagement compared to relying solely on announcements and hoping learners see them. You can customize the agent's message and schedule to align with your communication strategy.
Re: How do I get access to the Product Idea Exchange?
Hi @Peggy.R.1517,
Thank you for reaching out to the Brightspace Community!
No separate login is needed to access PIE. If you're logged into Community, you should be able to access PIE automatically by accessing under Quick Links (right side of the page) or under Resources tab.
If you're still not able to access, no worries, it's a quick fix! Please follow the steps outlined in this article to re-initiate the verification that will connect you to PIE on your next login to our Community:
Please let us know if you have any questions 😊
