Re: Force Module with Course Creation
Hi @Kourtnie.H.217 ,
Thanks for reaching out to the Brightspace Community.
You can use Copy Course Bulk (CCB) to copy a pre-designed module into the Content (or templated course content) of many courses at a time. This process is an additive process, and all new content would be appended to the end of any existing content. This would require that the newly copied module would need to be moved from the bottom of the content list up to the top (or other desired area) by a user with edit capabilities, maybe the instructor?
Also, depending on your institutions method of creating new courses, there may be other ways of accomplishing this. i.e. if your institution uses IPSIS to create new shells, this process can be set to copy a content from an existing course as each new course shell is created. If this is the first action within a course, it will be the first content listed and any future content added would be appended below.
We hope this helps and please reach out if you have further questions.
Re: Gradebook weighting somehow reverts to points - like magic
Hi @Paula.C.2956
Thank you for reaching out to the Brightspace Community team. We appreciate you sharing the details of the issue.
While we have not seen widespread reports of this problem, since it is affecting multiple users, I recommend that you open a support case with us. This will allow our team to investigate the specific courses and users involved in detail and identify any underlying causes.
When submitting the case, please include as much information as possible.
Thank you once again for your patience and for bringing this to our attention.
Best regards,
Bhoomika

Re: How can I let students view a past quiz with the following conditions:
@Kylee.M.4135 Hi Kylee, I think you may have to use "All questions, without correct answers" for the primary view or if using an additional view: "All questions" with "Show learner's responses to the displayed questions" and "Show the learner’s grade for the displayed questions". There won't be any red X's for wrong responses so students just need to pay attention to the points awarded for each question to see which ones they got wrong (e.g. 0 / 1 point).
Re: Resetting Release Conditions - clarity in documentation
Hello @Steve.B.446,
Thank you for raising this! You’re right that there’s an opportunity to make our current documentation clearer around how certain release conditions behave, particularly “not” conditions and those related to group or section membership.
Clarification on “Not” Release Conditions
For conditions like “Has not received a grade”, the logic works in reverse compared to typical release conditions:
- Initially, the condition is met (i.e., the user has not received a grade), so the associated activity is visible.
- Once the user receives a grade, the condition becomes unmet, and the activity is unreleased.
- Importantly, if the grade is later removed, the condition does not become met again — it remains unmet.
This is because “not” conditions are not re-evaluated once they transition to unmet.
This behavior is different from standard release conditions, which typically remain met once satisfied.
Clarification on Group and Section Membership
Conditions based on group or section membership behave more dynamically:
- If a user is enrolled in a group or section, the condition is met.
- If the user is removed, the condition is reset — meaning it can be met again if the user is re-enrolled.
This is similar to how course enrollments work and reflects the system’s design to treat group/section membership as a re-evaluable state, unlike “not” conditions.
Next Steps
We acknowledge that our documentation needs to be updated to reflect:
- The non-reversible nature of “not” conditions.
- The resettable behavior of group and section membership conditions.
We’re working on updating the relevant articles on our Community page to provide clearer guidance and examples. In the meantime, if you need help identifying workarounds for workflows impacted by these behaviors (e.g., due to the 3000-member group limit), we’d be happy to assist.
