D2L's Learning Operations Hub enhances the administrator experience with improved oversight, control, and automation for recurring learning cycles. The first iteration of the solution focuses on improving the administration and monitoring of compliance-driven learning experiences, such as onboarding and role-based learning, regulatory updates, workplace health and safety, workplace inclusion policies, security awareness, and privacy and data protection.
What's coming
The solution is built for the people who administer, support, and audit learning.
When accessing the Learning Operations Hub, you first land in the People tab. This tab is populated with all imported users in your organization along with their attributes. Users are imported using your organization's preferred method of CSV upload, APIs, or D2L Link to sync with your HRIS, and attributes can be created directly in this space.
After attributes are created and users are imported, you can begin to focus on forming learning groups and later assigning courses to them. When creating your learning group, you can enter a Name, a unique Code to distinguish the learning group, and a Description. You can select Membership Rules based on your organization's attributes. The tool automatically adds learners to the group based on the selected attributes and allows you to preview the list of members included with the membership rules.
Once learning groups are created, you can begin assigning courses. Select a course, a learning group, and then create the rules around the learning group assignment's enrollment cycle.
With the Assigned Courses tool, you can automatically assign learning groups to curated enrollment cycles with definable rules around membership, due date, and re-offering cadence, all with the ease of viewing those assignments and learners' progress directly in Brightspace.
Once all the learning is assigned, administrators and managers will want to understand how each learner is doing on their progress and history. To drill down into a learner's learning history, you can access their Learning Details page. The page provides deeper insight into a learner's complete learning history, painting a full learning picture so you can assess their compliance and capabilities across different areas.
Besides viewing a deeper level of a learner's learning history, you can also download a full PDF transcript of their learning history. Additionally, a learner's learning status can be updated along with any reasons for the update to correctly reflect their learning completion record by using Mark as Complete.
On the learner's side, they can continue to experience Brightspace's rich learning experience with increased visibility into their learning progress and history.
The My Courses widget is updated to prioritize due dates and clearly indicate each course's learning status. Learners can click View All Courses, to navigate the My Courses page, where they can view their Current and Completed learning and download their full learning history as a PDF transcript.
What else can I expect?
In addition to the above features, the following are also included in the release:
- New email notifications around course due date reminders, completion status, overdue learning, and team progress .
- Data sets
- Valence APIs
- New permissions to control visibility and tool usage.
