One of our instructors let me know that when using the new feature that let's you set an initial due date for discussion posts it marks all the posts after that due date as late, including the follow up response posts. We were under the impression that the initial due date was so that professors could make students post their initial post by that due date and then leave more time for response posts before the end date.

Hello @Alexander.K.474, thanks for your question.

My recommendation for this situation, where you don't want the 'X days late' to show up while grading, is to remove the Due Date from the Discussion Topic after it arrives.

The days late wording is expected, such as with an Assignment when a due date is added, where an instructor wishes to allow submissions after that date but before a possible End Date where the activity is shut down from further submissions.

    Hope this helps.
