Section titles/text in Question Library do not update in Quizzes (and vice versa)
I recently discovered that when the Section Title or Section Text is changed in the Question Library, the updates do not carry over to any Quizzes where that section is used. Similarly, if the text is edited directly within a Quiz, the changes do not sync back to the Question Library.
This behaviour is different from how actual questions behave when they are pulled from the Question Library, and it can easily lead to inconsistencies or errors in future quiz iterations.
This is especially problematic when Sections are used to present shared content—such as fact patterns or other contextual information—intended to apply to multiple questions across a quiz.
Is this expected behaviour or a bug?

Based on the scenario you mention, this behavior seems to be expected. Section Titles and Section Text do not sync between the Question Library and individual Quizzes. Changes made in one location remain isolated and do not automatically propagate to the other.
By design, Brightspace’s architecture treats section metadata (titles, text) as local copies once added to a quiz, rather than shared references.

There is already a Support case open for this issue.
To clarify what I meant by a replacement is Brightspace previously included a Text/Image Information question type (name may vary slightly) that allowed instructors to place instructional content, text and images, directly within a quiz. This item had no response options and no points associated with it, but because it was a "question", it could be managed through the Question Library and updated across multiple quizzes simultaneously.
That question type was removed several years ago. Section text now serve the same instructional purpose within quizzes. However, unlike the former Information question type, Section text does not support updating across quizzes and the question library simultaneously. Information content, such as a case used for multiple questions, can no longer be centrally managed in the Question Library.
