Media Library - for images to use across courses

Does anyone use Media library to store images that can be used across courses?

We have just been having a play with this.

But when we go to "Insert Stuff" "Media Library" then insert the image into our content. The content editor isn't recognising as an image so we can't then add alt text or mark as decorative.

Is there a way to still use media library but insert as an image?

    Hi @Christina.T.727 ,

Thank you for reaching out to the D2L Help Desk. I'm Tejas, a member of the Product Support team.
I have been assigned to your question.

I have tested this behavior on our internal site. If we insert the image from the media library, it won't give us the option for adding alt text or marking it as decorative.

If you want to add alt text or mark it as decorative, then you can insert the image directly using the "Insert Image" option in the HTML editor.

Do let us know if you have any other queries/questions. I'll be happy to assist you further.

    Thanks and regards,

While this workaround may work, it also defeats the purpose of using the media library where you upload once and use many times. With this workaround, the image would have to be uploaded in to each course. The media library inserts images in a page as an iframe. This needs to be fixed.
