Using Mixed-case Email Addresses with Course Connector for Microsoft Teams?
Hello, all.
I'm eager to hear from anyone else who has both:
- the Brightspace Course Connector for Microsoft Teams
- users with mixed case email addresses (e.g. First.Last@example.edu)
If you do have both, will Course Connector still create teams for course instructors who have mixed-case email addresses? Will the test tools within ShuffleExchange still successfully look up mixed-case email addresses/UPNs in your Entra ID?
It seems that sometime during the last few months, Course Connector for Microsoft Teams began requiring that email addresses in my university's learning environment be all-lowercase. We must have first.last@example.edu in our LE now where First.Last@example.edu used to work, even though in our Entra ID our email addresses, UPNs, and primary proxy addresses all remain mixed-case, First.Last@example.edu.
I'm interested to learn if others have experienced this same change in Course Connector behaviour. Thank you.

Hi @Stephen.G.968,
Thanks for reaching us through the community!!
Based on what you’re describing, I think it would be a good idea to have a support agent take a closer look at things and help you with your query regarding Microsoft Teams.
Your first step is to connect with your school or organization’s Help Desk to create a support request.
If you’re not sure how to do this, email us at questions@community .d2l.com with the name of your school or organisation, and we can provide the contact details.
If you are the ASC/Admin for your organisation, please refer to our documentation for how to log a Support case or request, and a member of our Support team will be happy to assist you.
Thanks,
Sangeetha

Hi, @Sangeetha.T.629.
Thank you, and yes, I am administrator and ASC for my university, and I have a case open with EUS for this issue. Nearly a month on though, the EUS agents and ShuffleExchange still misunderstand the nature of the problem. Seeking to approach the issue from another direction, I posted here hoping to find other impacted organizations with whom to compare notes.
Stephen
