Reusable Content Templates / HTML Snippets in Brightspace

Hi Brightspace community,

I'm looking for a way to reduce duplication of standard content in Brightspace, such as AI usage guidance, academic integrity statements, and other common notices.

I haven't found a mechanism for reusable content blocks or HTML snippets that can be maintained centrally and embedded across multiple pages, apart from HTML templates for pages that does not fit this particular use case. The most practical approach I've identified is creating a dedicated content page and linking to it where required.

Before adopting this approach, I wanted to ask:

• Does Brightspace support any form of reusable content, templates, or shared HTML components? I understand Brightspace supports iFrames, however I want to share content native to Brightspace.
• Are there features available in our environment that would support centrally managed content?
• From a student experience perspective, is linking learners to a dedicated guidance page considered good practice, or is there a preferred alternative?

At this time, Brightspace Content does not provide a native mechanism for reusable HTML snippets or content blocks that can be embedded across multiple pages and updated centrally. Standard HTML templates can help maintain consistency during page creation, but they serve only as a starting point and do not automatically synchronize updates to existing pages once content has been created.

For organizations seeking centrally managed, reusable content, Createspace is the primary D2L solution. Createspace provides a centralized authoring and content management experience that allows content to be created once, deployed across multiple courses, and updated from a central source. It also includes an Asset Library for managing reusable content and files.

If Createspace is not available in your environment, administrators can maintain centrally managed content through Organization Files or Public Files. For example, a single HTML file can be stored centrally and linked across courses, allowing updates to be made in one location without needing to edit individual course pages.

For content such as AI usage guidance, academic integrity statements, and institutional policies, a dedicated guidance page is generally considered a good practice. Maintaining a single authoritative page helps reduce duplication, keeps information current, and avoids conflicting versions across courses.

A common approach is to:

• Create a single policy or guidance page.
• Place it in a consistent location within the course, such as a "Course Information & Policies" module.
• Add brief contextual links to the page where the information is most relevant, such as within assignment instructions or assessment descriptions.

This approach provides learners with a clear source of truth while keeping course content concise and easier to maintain.
