Relative Due Dates

Question

Good Day,

We have set relative due dates for some compliance courses we have and have noticed that the due dates are changing for staff when we did not change them.

We have used the 'Relative' due date instead of specific because we need staff to complete the course within 6 weeks of the course being assigned.  It initially assigned the correct due date but has since updated to 2 weeks further from the initial due date.

Can someone please explain what is happening here.

I appreciate you getting back to me so promptly!

I figured out what happened.

I added the courses to another learning group today that included all staff instead of creating a learning group that only included staff not already enrolled in the course.  When I added the courses to the 'All Staff' learning group, the system updated the due date for those enrolled already (from another learning group) who already had a previous due date, to a due date that would be for someone enrolled today.  Instead of honoring the original due date they were given when enrolled prior to today.

I assumed the system would just enroll those who have not been enrolled and assign them a due date based on being enrolled today.  I did not think it would update the due date for other staff members within that Learning Group who were already enrolled.

I fixed this issue by removing the courses from the 'All Staff' Learning Group which removed due dates for everyone…briefly of course.  I then created 2 new Learning Groups, one for those active/hired on the enrollment date back in September and one for those who were hired after the initial enrollment date in September. I then assigned both courses within each new Learning Group and then applied a specific due date for those who were enrolled back in September and a relative due date for those enrolled today.  Doing this fixed the issue.

Are you able to see if the actual number of days for the course, within the Learning Groups tool, was modified with an extra 14 day? I'm specifically thinking of this item here:

Or, does it appear these users were simply given 14 extra days, without the above settings being adjusted?
