I see that we can now edit existing assignments to change them to Selectbox grading. This is a welcome update.
Can new Turnitin assignments be created with Selectbox grading item type?

Thank you for reaching out to the Brightspace Community.
Based on my testing of the Turnitin integration and grading infrastructure, new Turnitin assignments cannot currently be created with a Selectbox grade item type.
For Basic LTI 1.3, Turnitin assignments are created as a content topic, and the grade item is automatically created by the LTI tool through the Assignment and Grades Service (AGS). Since AGS passes back numeric scores, the resulting grade item is created as a Numeric grade item, and the grade type cannot be selected during creation.
For V2 Turnitin assignments created through the Brightspace Assignments tool, the Turnitin grade passback also uses numeric scores. Selectbox grade items rely on predefined grade scheme values (for example, Pass/Fail or letter grades), which are not compatible with Turnitin's numeric grade passback workflow.
