Copying a course with an Edpuzzle Assignment

Hi Community,

When a course is copied with an EdPuzzle assignment, it seems like each assignment has to be deleted and recreated, as the old link is pointing to a different class.  Besides deleting all the old asssignments and recreating everything, is there a better method that I should be using?

Thank you for reaching out regarding the challenges you're experiencing with EdPuzzle links during the course copy process.

When a course is copied in Brightspace, the system generates new unique identifiers(context_id and resource_link_id) for the course and the LTI links. Because EdPuzzle sees these as brand-new IDs, it doesn't automatically know which EdPuzzle content should be associated with the new course. This is a known industry-wide challenge with how LTI links transition between "Source" and "Destination" courses.

Instead of deleting and recreating the assignments, we recommend the following "Relinking" method, which is generally faster:

* Include All Components: When copying the course, ensure that both Content and External Learning Tool Links are selected.
* The "First Launch" Step: Once the copy is complete, the instructor should click on each EdPuzzle link within the new course.
* Re-pair, Don't Recreate: Most LTI tools will recognize the new course context and prompt the instructor to "Select an existing assignment" or "Assign to this class." This re-establishes the connection without needing to build the activity or gradebook association from scratch.

I have had the same issue when copying a class. Our Edpuzzles are set up as LTI links. Even when I copied everything (rather than picking & choosing what to copy), the teacher of the new class had to relink the Edpuzzle activities.

I have found that there are some products that work when the LTI links are copied, but most do not seem to remain linked correctly.

If it is supposed to work every time, I have not found the correct way to do it!
