Image editor changes (size/alignment) not consistently saving in Brightspace HTML Editor

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to determine whether anyone else has experienced inconsistent behaviour when editing images in the Brightspace HTML Editor.

One of our instructors is reporting that when they edit an image using Edit Image, changes such as resizing appear to save correctly while they are still in the HTML Editor. However, after saving the page the image often reverts to its previous size.

The behaviour is inconsistent. Some images save the changes immediately, while others require several attempts before the new size persists after the page is saved. In one example, the instructor had to repeat the same resizing process four times before it finally saved correctly. The issue does not occur with every image, even when following the same steps.

The instructor has also been unable to consistently center images using the image editor. In some cases, the only workaround has been using the Increase Indent option from the HTML Editor toolbar.

Has anyone else experienced this behaviour, or is this a known issue? If so, are there any common causes or recommended troubleshooting steps?

Because the behavior is inconsistent and appears to affect some images but not others, this would be best reviewed through a Support Case so the team can look at the affected content page, image markup, and environment details directly.

One useful item to check before opening the case is whether the image size/alignment changes are present in the HTML source after the page is saved. This can help determine whether the change is not being saved, or whether the change is saved but another part of the page, such as existing HTML structure, a template, or custom styling, is affecting how the image displays afterward.

When opening the case, please include:

• The affected course and content/page location
• The specific image or images where the issue occurs
• The exact steps used to edit and save the image
• Whether the image was uploaded through Brightspace, inserted from Manage Files, copied/pasted, or linked externally
• Browser and version used by the instructor
• Whether the page uses an HTML template or custom CSS
• A short screen recording showing the edit, save, and the image reverting if available

That information should help Support review whether the issue is related to the editor save action, the saved HTML, or the way the page is rendering the saved image.
