Bulk apply a shared navbar as the active navbar for a subset of existing course offerings

Hi everyone,

I've recreated our institution's standardized navbar as a shared Organization-level navbar.

My question is about the final step. Is there a supported way to bulk set a shared navbar as the active navbar for a subset of existing course offerings (for example, all Fall 2026 course offerings)?

At the moment, I can make the navbar available to the courses, but I still have to go into each course individually, select it as the Active Navbar, and click Apply. What is the best way to go about doing this, especially as we are trying to apply it to quite a few course offerings that are already created.

Hi Heather. Changing the default will update it immediately for all courses, so it won't just apply to new ones, but all existing ones as well (except those which have a non-default navbar applied to them).

Just to confirm my understanding, if we set the shared navbar as the default for Course Offerings, would that immediately change the active navbar for all existing course offerings, or would it only affect newly created course offerings?

Hello @Heather.B.4264, thanks for your question!

Unfortunately we do not have a way to bulk-apply or enforce a navbar, like you would a homepage. You could look at using the Course Branding Tool, information of which is available here:

Course Branding is a bit complex to set up for the first time, but easier to use once it's up and running.

Your most easy path forward would be to default the navbar for all Course Offerings, which I know may not be what's best since it would apply to absolutely everything.

I did also check our API's but at this time we don't have a scope that can set navbars.
