Size when Export ALL files VS selected files differs greatly?

I'm trying to export my course files into a Brightspace Package as I'm moving content between 2 different Brightspace instances (hence unable to use the Course Copy function).

I noted that when I select ALL files to export, the zipped file size is 2.1 GB.
But, when I selected Content + Course files only, the zipped file size grew to 6.09 GB.

Why?

    Hi Yi,

    I hope you're doing well.

When you select All Components for export, the zipped file size may actually be smaller if you do not enable the Include course files in the export package option.

However, if you select Content + Course Files only, the course files will be included in the package, resulting in a larger zipped file size.

If you believe the tool is not behaving as expected in your environment, we recommend opening a support case so we can investigate further. Please contact your Helpdesk to have one initiated.

Once the case is created, our team will be able to review your specific settings, troubleshoot the difference in file sizes, and provide you with the most effective solution.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions in the meantime!

    Best regards,

My guess is that you have alot of unused files in your manage files area, so when you just select content, it exported the "used" files, but the other option exports files whether they are used or not.

I would check the manage files area and see if there are any large files there.

Thanks for the responses! That helped clear things up for me. Indeed, I had forgotten to include course files in the initial export - hence the file size was at 2.1 GB.
