Creating Different Learning Paths Within a Course

Hi all,

My team wants to create different paths that students can take within a single course based on their area of interest. For instance we have a School Supervisor course. The base content covers basic principles of supervision then each module splits into 2 paths: supervisors of teachers and supervisors of non-teaching staff. We can set up conditional releases so that they only see the path they sign up for, but that is creating issues with the gradebook where students are getting 0s for not completing the assignments in the opposite path. Is there a way to bulk exempt students from specific assignments based on a group they joined or conditionally released content?

Hello @Alexa.T.534, thanks for your question!

Thinking about this, I was wondering if your easiest path would be to set your grade settings to 'drop ungraded items' so they don't have an impact on any overall score (even if it's just for tracking) but then also apply a release condition to the grade items based on Groups/Sections, depending on the path they are taking.

This way they wouldn't see any of the items from the other stream.

The only bulk method that we have to apply exemptions would be via API's. HERE is a link to that section of our Valence documentation.

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any questions.
