Change default behaviour of, "Allow users in this course to make earned awards public."

When you create a new course, if the config allows it, on the Awards page there are two checkboxes and they are automatically turned on by default:

  • Allow users in this course to make earned awards public.
  • Allow users in this course to share awards to LinkedIn.

I'm just checking - there's no way to have these checkboxes deselected by default, correct? I submitted PIE D9918 back in 2023, but it never got marked as being released.

    Thank you for your question.

    At present, there isn’t a configuration option to have those two Awards checkboxes (“Allow users in this course to make earned awards public” and “Allow users in this course to share awards to LinkedIn”) deselected by default.

    You may want to revisit your PIE submission D9918 and add any updated comments or examples to keep it visible and relevant. More engagement from the community, such as likes and feedback, can help show interest and may play a role in how it’s considered for future updates. I would strongly recommend encouraging others in your organization to like/comment/upvote on your submission to boost its visibility.
