I am being asked to enter a code for the knowledge check on an outside web browser. who do i ask for this code, as i am unsure if this portion is a mandatory feature of my course.

I’d recommend reaching out to your instructor to see if they’ve set up an access code for the knowledge check, or your Brightspace administrator through your organization’s helpdesk. They’ll be able to help you look into this.
