TurnItIn reporting completely unrelated Student ID as submitter for group assignment

Hi,

We have lots of group submissions for assignments. We set up the group set and then set up the assignment so the group of students submits together, and TurnItIn is almost always turned on for these submissions too.

The strange thing is, when I look at the Submission Information in TurnItIn Feedback Studio, the Student ID that is reported as submitting the assignment is a completely different user altogether. The user isn't even enrolled in that specific class at all. Has anybody else experienced this?

Additional info: For individual submissions, the Student ID displayed is the correct one.

Hi Hermien,

That does sound unusual, especially since it only seems to affect group submissions and not individual ones.

To investigate this further, could you please create a support case with us? When submitting the case, be sure to include the following details:

The course and assignment name(s) where this has occurred

The group set configuration

The user ID that is incorrectly appearing in TurnItIn

Any screenshots from TurnItIn Feedback Studio showing the issue

Once we have those details, we’ll be able to take a closer look and escalate to the appropriate team if needed.
