Nav Bar Customization

Question

Is it possible to hide items in the Nav Bar depending on role? I know there are some tools that do not display depending on role, such as Data Hub which is only available to Admins but not Instructor or Student roles, for example.

We would like to hide the Assignments tool in the Nav Bar for students so that they rely on navigating through Content instead of shortcutting to the Assignments tool, which bypasses learning material. However, we would like the Instructor role to be able to access the Assignements tool through the Nav Bar. Is this possible?

Yes, you can either apply this link on an individual basis or add your custom link to a specific navbar theme and apply that theme for a specific organization level.

Hello,

Yes, this is possible! You can do this by creating a custom link to the Assignments tool.

* From Admin Tools > Navigation & Themes > Custom Links
* Create Link. Give your link a Name and add the URL for the Assignments tool in your course.
* Under Availability, select Limit to specific roles.
* Save, then replace the Assignments link with this custom link on your course navbar.
