I am using the checklist feature in a module to add Cengage MindTap assignments. However, only some of the assignments are appearing in the Grades for students. How can I fix this?

The Brightspace checklist feature is designed to help students track their progress, but it does not influence gradebook entries or the synchronization of grades from external tools like Cengage MindTap.

If some MindTap assignments are not appearing in the Brightspace gradebook, the issue likely stems from how those assignments were integrated or synced.

Ensure MindTap Assignments Sync to Grades

1. Log in to your course in Brightspace.
2. Go to the MindTap (Cengage) link in your course (often located in the Content area or a module).
3. Inside MindTap, check:
   • Are all assignments published and set up correctly in MindTap?
   • Are the assignments set to sync grades with LMS?
4. Use the Cengage Sync Tool in Brightspace:
   • Locate the Cengage App (could be called “Cengage” or “Cengage Sync”) in the course navigation.
   • Launch it and click “Sync All” or select individual items to sync.
   • Ensure each assignment has a green checkmark or shows that it has been linked and synced successfully.
5. Check the Brightspace Gradebook:
   • Go to Grades and confirm whether each MindTap assignment appears as a grade item.
   • If not, go back to the sync tool and ensure it's configured to create grade items automatically or do it manually.
6. Avoid relying on the Checklist to trigger grade item creation:
   • Adding an assignment to a checklist does not link it to the gradebook or affect syncing — it’s just a reminder/task list.
   • Make sure each assignment is properly linked via the Cengage content selector or deep linking tool when first inserted.
