Group-based due dates not visible to all students

Hello,

Having experienced a recent issue in my Brightspace classroom, I figured I should mention it here to see if there is a solution somewhere in the platform.

When an instructor in Brightspace creates an assignment for a group, there is no way for a student who is not registered in a group to see if that assignment exists. The assignment does not appear in the Calendar or as a blocked page in the Assignments tab. This is impactful because in the case of group projects that allow for solo work, it requires students to sign up for groups immediately to view any changes to assignments.

Is there any way to change this behaviour such that group assignments are visible but not submittable to all students in a class? Thank you!

  • Hi Charlie,

    There is a setting within the role of the learner that sets it so learners can see all groups. This would be a site-wide change to the learner role in all courses, but would allow them to see all groups, including ones they are not enrolled in.
