Why are students awarded negative points for successfully completing an activity on the content plat

    Can I trouble you to share with us a screenshot or a little more description of the kind of activity you're describing?

    I don't believe it's possible to award negative points via the Brightspace Awards Tool. Assessment activities tied to the gradebook also contribute points or marks to a student's final grade.

    I'm wondering if the activity is formative, perhaps a learning game that offers practice but does not contribute to the gradebook (student final grade)

    I hope you don't mind I've removed the screenshot as, even though I think it was likely a test user, the username displayed in the image.

    I can see that a negative score appeared on the gradebook which isn't what I would have expected.
    What is the activity connected with that grade item in the grade book?

    I think the issue is related to the scoring of the connected activity.

    The scores from the content provider in transferred correctly; however, it automatically changes to a negative score in 10-15 minutes. More details can be found in Support case # 02133154

    @Deepak.K.1137 I think investigating with a dedicated support agent who will have permission to access your environment and review the settings of the content activity and grade item is the right next step.
