Is it possible to schedule a thread (post) in a discussion forum to publish at a later time?
Hello,
I’m looking for a way to schedule a thread (post) within a discussion forum in D2L Brightspace so that it automatically becomes visible at a future date and time—similar to how we can schedule announcements or set availability dates for discussion topics.
Is there currently a built-in feature that allows instructors to create a discussion thread and have it automatically publish later, or is this only possible for forums and topics? If this isn't available, are there any recommended workarounds?
Thank you in advance.

Thank you for reaching out to the Brightspace Community!. At present, it seems that unfortunately it is only possible to schedule the posts for forums and topics from the Discussions tool by setting up the Start/End dates in the Availability Dates & Conditions accordion,
- Visible with access restricted: The forum or topic is visible to learners before or after the start or end date, but they cannot access it.
- Visible with submission restricted: The forum or topic is visible to learners before or after the start or end date and they can access it, but they cannot post new threads or replies. This effectively makes a discussion read-only.
- Hidden: The forum or topic is hidden from learners until the start or end date. Calendar events for
Currently, there is a feature request submitted in Product Idea Exchange that aligns to your inquiry and is lodged as below:
Schedule Post Option for Discussions for Facilitators/Educators (D7259)
I kindly recommend you to upvote the above PIE item.

Thank you for your response and the helpful information. I was indeed familiar with the availability date options for forums and topics, but it's always good to have a reminder of how those work.
I’m hopeful that the “Schedule Post” feature will be added to the thread in a future update. I also appreciate you pointing me to the Product Idea Exchange for the "Schedule Post Option for Discussions." However, I tried accessing it, but I wasn’t able to log in as it prompted me for an email and password, and I wasn’t able to gain access.
In the meantime, if anyone in the community has come across a workaround for scheduling individual threads within a forum, I’d love to hear about it.
