I've been manually updating the template path for various courses, but we're ready to finally switch the default path.
I went to add the Organization and cascade the change down, but it's not available as an option.
Hi, Maureen. I see on our site that that instance value still points to that old v2 template same as your does, but somehow all new courses I create automatically have the Content Settings pointing to the new v3 template (which I installed some time ago) without me going in and toggling each one individually. I don't do anything to make this happen—the overrides just automatically populate the listing at the bottom of the Config Variable d2l.Tools.Content.TemplatePath page that you screenshotted. My guess is that it's only pre-existing course pages that need manual adjustment, not ones you create from now on (you could create a new course page to verify if this is the behaviour). On reflection, this makes sense according to D2L logic… because if instructors were using the old templates in their course, you wouldn't necessarily want the default template path being used in their course to suddenly change underneath them (without them being aware) and "force" them to create the rest of their course with a different set that don't match what they started with. You would want to inform them of the availability of the new template set and then allow them to make the choice as to whether they wanted to switch now or not. Truth be told, this isn't typical Brightspace Admin logic for many of us. We're right in there helping out our instructors in all manner of ways that they don't even know they need to be helped! 🙂
