0-4 Grading Schemes

We have several large departments that are using and want to use a 0-4 style grading scheme (Based on the book Grading For Equity). We've found a clunky way to almost accomplish this with a custom grading scheme, but it still relies on percentages (and makes them visible), defeating the original intent. Has anyone found a better way of accomplishing this? Since our Math, Writing/English, Business, and CIS/CS instructors are all using or hoping to use this scheme, we're looking at hundreds of courses a year. We'd love to create an effective (and consistent) scheme that we could release at the Org or Department level to help expand the use of this grading practice.

We opened a PIE item (10714 - please vote for it), but it apparently doesn't have enough views to warrant a review.

    Hi @Andy.F.437

We use a number of custom grading schemes, and we find that as long as you set your grading column with the correct viewing settings you can hide the "percentage" or "points"

In this example the grade scheme has 4 grading statuses we give to students and then when we display the grade column to students, we turn off the option for the Points grade

And this stops the percentage/points being displayed and then only shows the "Symbol" that we have chosen in the grade scheme

    Hope this helps!

Thanks Amy, we're doing something similar, but haven't implemented at the org level yet so it's widely available. I'll share what you're doing with the team. I appreciate all the details!
