If you are using Brightspace to manage your users, you can use the UPDATE function in the Bulk User Management (BUM) tool to bulk update the Org Defined ID. This tool is accessible to Administrator-type users and enables you to use a downloadable CSV template to update the information. For details on how to use it, please see: https://community.d2l.com/brightspace/kb/articles/4858-create-a-file-for-the-bulk-user-management-tool

However, if you are using IPSIS to provision and manage your users, we recommend that you make the updates via IPSIS instead of using the Bulk User Management tool in Brightspace.

    Hi @Natasha.B.837,

Thank you so much for your answer. We do use IPSIS, but we need to update more than 800 users, so do it one by one is a lot of time. Do you know if can use in bulk to update the orgdefinedID?

    Thank you,

    Mariana

As you may be aware, you can update one Org Defined Id at a time in IPSIS Administration > D2L Standard CSV > User Sourced Id. To be able to bulk edit the Org Defined Id in IPSIS Administration, you will have to temporarily change the configuration for how users are uniquely identified from Org-defined ID to Username (see Step 4 in Map SIS role names to Brightspace roles.

You will then use the relevant version of D2L Standard CSV file format for Users to update the Org Defined Ids for existing users in bulk.

Once you have uploaded your CSV file for processing and confirmed that the batch has run successfully, change the configuration for how users are uniquely identified back to Org-defined ID.

    Hopefully, this helps!

    Kind regards
    Natasha
