Including the student's name in an announcement

Hello all -

I remember there is a way to add the student's name in an announcement to make it more personal in D2L, but I've looked through past documentation, and I can't find out how to do it. It's something like "Hello {NAME} or [NAME], but neither of those work when I impersonate the Demo student. I will keep trying, and hope I stumble across the answer - if I do I will post it!
