How a quiz can be made to one student only so it's not calculated in other students' final grades

How a quiz can be made to one student only so it's not calculated in other students' final grades? I made a quiz for one student so that no one else can see it. Still, in the grade book, it appears as part of the final weighted grade calculation for everybody. What could be a solution? I thought of exempting all other students from this quiz.

Hello, I have tried this workaround and it hasn't worked for me. I've had "Drop ungraded items" selected the entire semester, but students with no grade for an assignment still see it in their list as ungraded. For example, I have a quiz in the same Brightspace class that only one student needed to take, so I have "Allow only users with special access to see this quiz", which I believe does hide the assignment, but the grade item still shows up for everyone.

Are there any other workarounds, or has Brightspace maybe added a new way to fix this since Dec 2024?

Hello Star,

Thank you for your reply. If you would like the grade item to exist and apply for the users that did take the quiz, you can the following workaround.

Ensure that in the grade settings for your gradebook that 'Drop ungraded items' is enabled. This way, users that did not take the quiz will have no grade and the gradebook should not count the grade item in the final grade. For the users that did take the quiz, their grade for the grade item should reflect in their final grade.
