What is AWARDS under My Home about for Admins?

When an admin selects AWARDS from the homepage (or by selecting My Home when in any course) a submen including "Classlist Awards", "Course Awards" etc. appears. It is hard to understand the purpose or meaning of the choice here, though. For example, while a list of users appears under Classlist Awards it is unclear which courses they are enrolled in, if any, or if this is all students on the server in all courses. And if one creates an item under Course Awards, it is odd because it's hard to see how conditions can be set when no course is "the default course".

Under which circumstances, if any, would admins use this submenu as opposed to setting up awards in courses that students can see on their own my home / awards page if they earn them.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

    Hi Lynda,

The Awards tool with always have the same Sub-Menu no matter what level it is opened from. In the case of opening the Awards tool at the Org level homepage your admin would be able to create Org level awards - so the Classlist in this case should show everyone in the Org.

Great, thanks. We've never set up an award at the Org level yet. If one does set up an Org level award, I presume that would be for granting an award where the criteria for qualifying spans multiple course shells. Do you happen to know how one specifies the course shell a grade/assignment/etc. in the criteria for list resides? All I could see was the same menu one would see for criteria in an individual course and no way to specify the course. Not an urgent concern as we don't yet have org level awards, just want to know if I'm understanding how an Org level award would be set up. Just point me at the right docs if that's the solution. :-)
