Project Assignment Worksheet Not Opening From Pulse to Word on Mobile Device
I have a Project Assignment that has the instructions written out in the prompt, and then at the bottom has the assignment as a Microsoft Word so the student can edit & write the answers on the worksheet and then upload.
My question is for students on a Mobile Device and using the Pulse app - when they open a Word document it just gives them the document and it is not editable. Is there a way within Brightspace to edit the document? Or is there a way to ensure the document opens in Microsoft Word?

Hi Jocelyn,
This problem can be caused by number of factors, most of which are related to the users mobile device. The common ones are: incorrect file associations; and no application on the users device that can open/edit/read .docx files.
- File associations are mostly resolved by trying to open a .docx file, the user should be prompted to select the default application to use when accessing the file type:
- The following resource from Samsung covers the basic steps required to do this for any app
- Application issues are associated with the former issue, in that there is no suitable application installed on the user's device which to open the .docx file with. A couple of solutions for this are:
- Download and install the Microsoft Word app to the device. The user will most likely need a suitable subscription giving them access to the MS Word app.
- Other alternatives, or 3rd party apps are available on the Google Play Store that can be used to open/edit .docx files such as Google Docs. Once installed it could be set as the default app for opening .docx files.
Hope this helps!
