End dates and visibility

Hi all,

Some of our faculty continue to use Classic Content while others have switched to NCE, and we're finding that end dates function differently in each one. In Classic Content, a Unit with an end date appears after the end date and the content still shows up, whereas in NCE the Unit is gone after the end date. Can someone please explain the discrepancy and if there are any plans to update NCE so it has the same functionality for end dates as Classic Content.?

Thanks,

Yildiz

  • Hi Yildiz,

Thank you for reaching out. I understand the concern regarding the difference in end-date functionality between Classic Content and NCE.

In Classic Content, the end date for a unit is used as a cutoff point for visibility but does not necessarily remove the content from view after that date. This setup allows for extended access to materials even beyond the end date for review purposes or late submissions.

In contrast, NCE (New Content Experience) is designed with a more streamlined approach. The end date typically enforces a stricter visibility control, meaning the content will no longer be accessible once the end date has passed. This approach is intended to help manage content visibility more effectively in alignment with course schedules and deadlines.

As of now, NCE's functionality is intended to be more rigid in terms of end dates to ensure that content visibility aligns closely with the course timelines. However, we understand the need for flexibility and are continuously working to improve the user experience based on feedback.

    Best regards,
