I set up attendance for my course sections. Is there a way to automate the attendance process?

I have about 50 students in each section and it would take an inordinate amount of time to manually take attendance each class session if there is no way to automate this process. I have used other applications that automate attendance, but they charge students an additional fee, which I am trying to avoid if at all possible. Thanks for your feedback.

@David.D.5694 If you need to be able to download a spreadsheet of attendance data and want the students to check in for each class session, then just using quizzes that sync to the grade book would be my choice. Create one quiz with a single question and associated grade item, copy it as many times as necessary, and change the titles to reflect the date for each class session and the availability dates/times when they are able to take the quiz. After the initial setup, you don't have to do anything else. The students take the quizzes, the points are sent to the gradebook automatically, and you can export from the gradebook if you need an Excel file.
