You can use the Class Progress tool to find out if the student has accessed the class or not.

For poll questions related to your class, you can use the Surveys tool.

Nikhil - thank you for your response, which is a good one. I think that the answer is that we do not have Zoom integrated into our installation and the only way to take class attendance and use polls during class is within Zoom itself. The other way would need to be to ask students to use Brightspace during class and ask them to login and complete a poll I created there, which is not ideal, as integration of Zoom into BS is certainly ideal. Thank you for your effort.
