New to Analytics Builder - Questions

Hi everyone. Our institution is new to Insights. We are looking at the Analytics Builder and trying to see what data we can pull. As we go through this, we have a few questions:

1. Can we export data from a SQL direct query?
2. When you schedule reports from a created dashboard, can the email provide a .csv or .xlsx? It seems like it only sends a pdf.
3. The scheduled emails contains a “View Dashboard” link. This takes you to a QuickSight log in page. Are we able to log in to QuickSight? Will our email recipients need QuickSight credentials to view our dashboards?

If anyone could answer these, we'd greatly appreciate it.

Hi Rica! Welcome!

1. Data can be exported (from a data set created via SQL Direct Query) as a PDF, from within the Analyses tool interface, assuming your Analytics Builder (AB) account is an author:
   

AND — that same result set, based on a SQL Direct Query, can be exported from a dashboard (created by publishing the Analysis), in csv or Excel, FROM the visualization's (or chart's) export menu (true whether you're an Author, OR a Reader):

2. Email recipients will need Brightspace credentials, and can only receive emails and access AB via Brightspace when their Brightspace accounts are provisioned (the have the "Can Use Analytics Builder" permission). Unfortunately, the link in the email does not (yet? — I think our team is working on this) allow users to click in their email. Please submit a Product Idea Enhancement request to call this to our developers attention.
