Is there a way to control access to certain areas of a course page? Am I able to control which students can see a module area under content. We have courses where two sections require different information but fall within the same course page. I can control access through Special Access to assignments; but I'm wondering if there's a way to control who can see a module within the content section.

    Hi Olivia,

Yes, you can use release conditions on the content topic or module. The Release Condition type would "Section Enrollment".

Yes, Brightspace offers a feature to control access to specific content areas, such as modules, within your course page. This can be particularly useful in situations where you have multiple sections within the same course but require different information for each section. Here's how you can control which students can see a module under the content section:

Restrict Access to Modules: You can set restrictions on individual modules in the Content area of your course. This allows you to control who can view the module based on certain criteria, such as group membership or release conditions.

Use Release Conditions: Release conditions allow you to set specific criteria that must be met before a module becomes visible to a student. For example, you can make a module visible only to students who are members of a specific group or section.

Group-based Restrictions: If your course has students divided into groups or sections, you can use these groupings to control access. You can set a module to be visible only to a particular group or section.

Set Date Restrictions: You can also control access to modules based on date and time. This allows you to make content available only during a specific period, which can be useful for time-releasing material to different sections.

Sequential Release of Content: If your course content is structured in a sequential manner, you can set modules to be available only after the previous module's content has been completed or viewed.

To set these restrictions, navigate to the Content area of your course, select the module you want to restrict, and look for options like "Add Dates and Restrictions" or "Add Release Conditions." There, you can specify the criteria for visibility, such as group membership or other conditions.

Remember, when using these features, it's important to clearly communicate to your students about how and when different course materials will be available to them, especially if there are different requirements for different sections within the same course.
